for the fall and winter seasons...
Let's list some ideas for making our home look cozy and inviting during the upcoming fall and winter months.
1. Toss afghans and throws over your couch, chairs, or bed.
2. Slipcover your couch and chair in winter colours or patterns
3. Use candles in dark shades and be sure to light them.
4. Dried fall tone flowers, wreaths, etc
5. Change out your throw pillows to darker more muted shades.
6. Be sure to light that fireplace if you have one. Even in the day time it looks great..And feels good too!
Ideas?

Well, I have already plugged in my "potpourri Jar" it has mini lights in it and smells devine.
Simmer potpourri on the stove in "fall" and "Wintery" scents.
Change your door wreath.
Change your carpet runners to a more suttle tone.
Put out special ornaments of the seaon gathered together in several spots around the house.

I love these Carolyn!
I set out old crockery that I have. One is an old churn type that has a fall arrangement in it. It sets on the floor by on antique radio cabinet my mom re did for me.
Another thing is the use of pinecones. We gather them and I sprinkle cinnamon powder on them, and place them in a basket. Looks and smells so fallish! lol forgive me I know that is NOT a word, here in the deep south, we have the tendency to make up words! lol
I decorate year round with a lot of earth tone colors, like barn red and sage green. In the summer and spring, my kitchen curtains are white lacy valances, but come fall, I replace them with a dark green tatted type valances I bought at WalMart a few years ago. Hang some apple garlands and it looks so pretty!!!!
How about using a pumpkin as a vase for fall mums? Just clean that pumpkin out.....bake up a few goodies....it'll make your house smell wonderful and then pop a pot of mums inside that pumpkin shell.
I make a tabletop display of fall items.........I start with candles of various heights and sizes, all in fall colors and scents, like pumpkin pie and apple cinnamon. Add some fall accents, JoAnn Fabrics or Big Lots have lots of cute reasonably priced little scare crows, etc. Wrap a pretty fall garland of leaves around it and instant fall you'll have! You could even use old burlap as a table runner! Oh boy, I could get carried away in a hurry......y'all please forgive me!
I love fall. I can hardly wait to hear what some of the rest of you do!!!

I might add that Dollar General, The Dollar Tree, or whatever your local dollar store is, are also good places for inexpensive items for each holiday.
