We had some pretty strong winds yesterday and I have pinecones all over my yard and driveway. I'd like to use them in decorating and such they are medium to large ones. How do I dry them? I heard in the oven but when I did that they closed up

I'm sorry they closed up Ellise. I have two pinecone collections. I am not sure what melting the pitch is about though.
The ones I got this year are from Lebanese Cedar I think. They need a little glue to keep them from "unravelling", very pretty like a flower.

I had no idea that you had to dry pinecones before using, didn't know they could close up and certainly never knew you could put them in the oven. Feeling pretty duh here, lol. We have lots of pinecones this year and I was thinking about making a wreath with them. Guess I need to do some reading on preparing them first

Ooo Dana a wreath would be so pretty. You can also buy a styrofoam tree base and make a tree from them. Be sure to let us see what you create.
