Ok Hearth and Homers...let's get ready for old man winter's arrival, unless your living down under and you have already shed those coats and hats for cooler clothing.
Take some time this week to get out your families coats from last winter season. Does it need washed or dry cleaned. Check the buttons to see if they are all tight and the zippers to make sure they zip properly.
But before you do all of this have everyone try them on to make sure they still fit.
Now, let's go looking for those hats and scarves. Everyone have one, do they need replaced or washed.
Next, mittens, *warm woolen mittens*...Make sure that each member of your family has a couple pair for those days when the snow beckons them outside for snow forts, snow angels or a good old snow ball fight. Do the mittens/gloves fit, are they in good repair??
If you have children you might want to make sure they have a pair of leggings.
Boot...let's check those for fit, and then make sure that they don't leak. Small leaks can be repaired. Having more than one pair is nice if you are outdoors sloshing around a lot and need to don a dry pair.
Remember to have lots of sweaters, vests and things for layering. Layering tends to keep you warmer.
Ok, now that we have accomplished that, let's all go make a cuppa hot cocoa...(don't forget the marshmallows)

I started a few weeks ago, Carolyn. I washed Patrick's winter coat. Mathieu tried Françcois' winter coat from 2 years ago and it fits just right and he likes it. Daniel and François are ready too for winter. We went to Sears this evening to get 3 pair of warm gloves for Pierre and Patrick. They had 40% off just this wedsday... and we also got a $3 flashlight. It didn't cost anything...we had a $15 dollar coupon from collecting Sears points and we also had a $20 gift certificate. Now have $11 and few cents left on our card. I'll probably check the Sears flyers and go back to get something for winter. Now we need to buy a warm winter coat for Pierre and a pair of boots for me. The kids are ok with boots this year.

This was the first year we had to find something to wear in the snow on our feet. DH and ds14 got workboots and some snow grease type stuff, sorry don't know much about it. They said it worked well. DD wore gumboots! She didn't know to put a plastic bag over the top until later.
I rarely wear a hat. Sorry.
