We attend a Christmas play on Christmas eve and the return home and reflect on how it made us feel and what we learned from it.
Christmas has always been very hectic for us, with Don's parents being divorced and remarried and living about a hour and a half from each other, it makes it tough.
I am so ready to have our own holidays with just us! I know it sounds selfish, but I am so looking forward to the day when it is our turn.

I try to have shopping and baking done the week before Christmas. The last few years haven't been so but I'm aiming for it this year. This way we can concentrate on the real meaning of Christmas and go to church servies, concerts, spend time as a family at home without rushing around and going into stores.
I also like to have meals in the freezer so I can just take it out and voila, there is supper instead of spending lots of time in the kitchen.
Another way we are simplifying the holidays is in gift giving. We used to buy for everyone on my husbands side, then drew names and this year we are paring down even more. EAch person is taking a $5.00 gift and we will exchange those. Much better.
