Our original recipe had avocado mixed as a spread over the bread.

1 medium avocado
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup mayonnaise (metric, use a bit less)
1/2 small red onion, chopped coarsely
1 medium tomato, chopped coarsely.

Mash avocado, juice and mayonnaise in small bowl. Add onion and tomato, mix well.
