What is your most favourite gift you have ever received both material and non-material?
My Christmas gift that always blesses my soul is the love of God and having my children and grandchildren come home for the holidays.
As for material things, it is never Christmas to me unless I find a box of chocolate covered cherries under the tree. :-) And I love receiving Bath and Body Works products.

Material: I was about 17 when the factory where both of my parents were employed shut down. I knew money was very tight, but somehow my mom managed to buy me a red plaid wool skirt and a beautiful soft cashmere winter white coat. She also made me a black velveteen blazer. She only worked on it when I wasn't around so it would be a surprise. Now that I am a parent, I realize what a sacrifice this was on her part. Nonmaterial: seeing the joy on my children's faces on Christmas morn. The peace that fills our home as we enjoy each other.

What a beautiful story Lynn. You are truly blessed indeed to have a mom like your's. :-) Isn't it amazing as adults when we look back and see the sacrifices our parents made for us!

When we lived in our hometown, Christmas to me was mince pies and shortbread. They weren't presents as such though.
