gas or electric, and which do you prefer..
Also, do you have a range with burners, or a flat surface cooking area.
I have electric and prefer that. I guess cause that is what I have always had. My stove is the flat ceramic cook surface.

Oh, this is a big topic in our house. We had a slightly larger than average old gas stove in our home of 16 years that we sold around 2000. We have been missing it. In fact I cook alot less without it. We have had three electric stoves since then. Thankfully we were able to repair our current one when the oven door wouldn't close properly!
Our electric has hotplates, so raised up round, 4 of them.

When dh and I were first married we moved into a new apartment. After being there awhile I told dh that I smelled gas. He kept saying I didn't. Well, one day I put a roast in, closed the oven door, stepped into the dining room and the oven blew up...Blew the door up. The gas company said we had a leak where the apartment builders didn't seal the line properly. I have been frightened of gas since then.

I am scared of gas also. My MIL says she will never cook on anything but a gas stove...lol
Mine is just a plain ol' electric. No ceramic top.

My MIL and FIL weren't keen when they got their new/old house fairly recently. Last time we visited them, they were definitely converts!
I was scared of gas in high school, I think they half of each. We had a little tool instead of a match to use at home.
It must have been terrible Car.

Well, no one was hurt. The electric company came out and red tagged the stove and the owners of the apartment complex fixed it. But it sure made a smoky sooty mess, which of course they cleaned. But I just haven't been comfy with gas since then.

I've had gas at various houses for 20 years and just love it. We've had a couple of short stints with electric which I don't like using because the hot plates take longer to heat up, the temperature is too slow to change, and a low simmer is harder to achieve. However, electricity is a lot cleaner. I've noticed many of the newer stoves have an electric oven and gas hotplates.

I forgot to mention that we love the idea of wok burners. We haven't used our wok for awhile, although we didn't actually have a wok burner but did use the wok on the gas stove.

We have an electric stove with regular burners. It is all I have ever really cooked on. MIL has a gas stove and DH prefers that. My only problem with our stove is that it is a Jenn-Air with only 2 burners and the grill where the other two burners should be. I always thought I wanted one of these, but we hardly ever use it. I would rather have two more burners. Thankfully we have 2 microwaves - one was built in with the house and we already had one. That takes up the slack some.
