Do you think that most teens are too young and immature to drive at age 16. I know some states are getting stricter about drivers education, amount of hours driven with parents, etc..
Personally I think that kids should be 18 before they drive..
What is your opinion?

I also think it should be 18 the legal age to drive. I think here in Quebec it is or it will be 18 to have a permit to drive....

I think it depends on the kid personally. Here in SC you get a permit at 15 and a restricted license at 15 1/2, Full one at 16.
Many of the drivers here in this town, are very careful and courteous drivers. Yes there are the few that I would love to choke because of their driving habits.

As the mom of a 16 year old who is still driving on her learner's permit, I would say 18 is a good age. Dd is NOT ready to be driving a car on her own and I can't see where she will be ready anytime soon. She just does not grasp the seriousness of being behind the wheel of a vechicle and all the things that could go wrong. I'm sure there are some kids who are mature enough to drive at 16 and can handle the responsibility, but I think there are a whole lot more who are not ready and should not be driving by themselves. Dd won't be driving by herself until dh and I feel that she is truly ready, even if it means waiting until she is 18; just because a kid can get a license at 16 doesn't mean they should be out on the road.

My son 17 is very aware of the amount of hours he has to practise driving. He can't get his licence yet. Our second car is not working atm and that has stopped the whole thing for the moment. Maybe in a couple of weeks dh can fix the car. I am not going to let him drive our main car. The roads around here have little room for error because of the steep sides of the road and a slower car is easier I think.

François is following his practical driving courses. He will only be able ton drive alone in november IF he passes the driving exam in november. So far, he is doing not too bad, but I find he is too distracted while driving and needs to develop more his reflexes.

It is good you have a set day for the test. I am not sure when to book a test for our son.

Not sure, don't know how to tell. He was away visiting last holiday so only got to drive once. He did have a lesson where he is living. Maybe he could have another one soon.

The driving instructor should be able to give you advice on readiness, Br. I know lessons are expensive, but three or four before they go for their licence can make a world of difference to their skill levels.
