Ok here's the plan, Daniel will go off to college in 2 years and we want to get rid of everything we can between now and then (less cleaning you see ;D) LOL anyway, I wanted to post a challenge to all of you that have kids leaving soon (-5 years)to start a "Hope Chest" for your kiddos to take with them when they leave.
We have designated an area of the attic for just this. ANd we are slowly but surely getting stuff (that's worth keeping) into Rubbermaid storage containers for him.
What have you done to set your kid futures?

Ellise, well this thread doesn't apply to me really, since my children have all grown and flown. Hopefully I taught them all they needed to know to keep a home and family. The girls did have a hope chest that we added to and when our son left for college and then on his own we picked up things for him and his home.
I hope most of all they learned love, character, hope, happiness, and God.

I've tormented myself about this in the past. I feel hampered due to lack of storage, and wonder if it's better in my situation to just put a bit of money aside and buy everything once (if!) any of them go.
