Well, I went to visit my Grandma today, poor dear...the dentist pulled the few teeth she had left to make room for new dentures. Then on top of that, from getting her teeth pulled, she bruised all around the area of her chin and mouth! Bless her heart! She is just so self-conscious of her "no teeth" look and not to mention she looks like someone beat her up. She feels fine, just looks sort of rough. She has stayed inside alot, missing church and all since she feels funny about going out without teeth. Then she read an article in the paper about a camp for burn victims...now these are people who have been through alot and scarred terribly. I had to admire Gram. She (in her practical line of thinking) decided that if burn victims can have the courage to go out in public, well, she could too! So, she went shopping at the Dollar Store with me! I pray God keeps her here a long time, as I sure have lots to learn from this wise woman!

Good for Gram! When I was going through chemo and lost my hair, at first other than to the hospital for treatments, I didn't want to go out at all. Then I remembered all the children I saw in the hospital in NY when my brother was being treated and decided if they could do it, so could I. Yes people stare at you but then the imp in me wanted to take my hat off and rub my head while staring back at them just like my brother Rod did. If I hadn't gone out, I wouldn't have gotten to see my nephew Roddy (named after my brother) in his very first wrestling match. And although he lost, I was so glad to be there to cheer him on. ;D You tell Gram from me Tammie, that life if just too short to worry about what other people think. She should just go out and do whatever she wants and in no time she will have her pearly whites back again.

Thanks for the encouraging advice to pass along Dee! You've been there and so you understand. Although, I do have to admit, I thought Gram looked pretty "cute" in her own way without the teeth!! *grin*

So does this mean Gram has her new dentures now?
