Do you have family pieces given to you by parents or other relatives that mean alot to you? Do you store or display them. Tell us what they are and what they mean to you?
I have my mom's cedar chest which I use. I have my dad's birthstone ring. My mom's first engagement ring, which I do wear. My grandmother's ruby ring and her birthstone ring. I had all the rings fixed and do wear them. I also have part of my grandmother's antique hanky collection
I have my daddy's rocking chair which I want to refinish but can't bring myself to do that so I just made a new cushion for it.
I have my grandmother's train case that she use to carry from her home in Maryland to our home in Michigan to see us when we were small. I have her tea pot as well.
I have alot of old family photos which I treasure and have scrapbooked.
I am sure there are other things, I will post them later.
These things mean so much to me.

Yes, I have a few pieces...
pink glasses that belonged to Shane's great grandmother. I am told she packed them in her luggage when the family came to America from Czeck region. They beautify some space in my kitchen, along with some given to me by my own grandmothers.
dinnerware, stemware, quilts, aprons and vintage tablecloths that belonged to my grannies. I do use the dinnerware, but the rest is packed away.
I have several pieces of jewelry that belonged to Shane's grandmother. She and I shared the same birth month. So I have a quaint opal ring that was given to her by her husband on their 25th wedding anniversary. I do not wear it, if I lost it, I don't know if I could forgive myself.
I have some old family photos too. Some of them are in collages, some in scrapbooks.

sounds lovely Lynn. You reminded me that I also have my grandmothers set of Depression glass, a lovely amber coloured rose pattern. I have the entire set except for the sugar bowl. I want to find it somewhere and add it to my collection.

My most treaured items are a pair of coral and gold earrings my Grandma gave me when we left the States. They had belonged to her when she was 18.
Also, when I turned 40, my parents gave me her engagement ring, which is very special too, and which I wear every day.
Because we've moved so much, there isn't much stuff that's made the journey to this point.

The only thing I have right now that was my grandmother's is her pastry blender. Jack mounted it on a piece of wood and I have it hanging in my dining room. Nothing from the other grandma and my parents are still living but mom knows I want the antiques. They don't interest anyone else.

I have an old platter with 6 glasses (use to be 8) that came from my Great Grandmother who brought it over from Spain. I have a cookie jar that is shaped like "The little old lady who lived in a shoe" (the shoe part) it was grammy's and I will treasure it all my life. My daddy's favorite coffee cup, I have it on top of my bathroom cabinet so I can see it everyday first thing.
I have an armoire that belonged to Don's Grand parents They received it from his grand mother's family. along with that I have the dresser, and a drop leaf (both sides drop)side table that has a drawer on the end. ALl pieces are done in a dark Mahogany? finish.
I have a cedar chest that Don's daddy built when he was in the 9th grade, very nice piece if I do say so myself.
