I told my husband last night that I think what we call spaghetti bolognaise in Australia is possibly called Goulash in the States, he was shocked. I suppose we instantly think of Hungarian Goulash or paprika or something German with cabbage. Spaghetti bolognaise is a meat sauce for spaghetti. You can serve it over macaroni too. It is made from hamburger or minced steak, onions and garlic if liked, canned tomatoes, oregano etc. if liked. Sometimes wine, the Italians sometimes add other ingredients. We use tomato paste, but I beleive you call it sauce? It gets confusing doesn't it? Here is a more visual explanation! www.gardenaction.co.uk/Recipes/recipe_spaghetti-bolognaise.asp

br tomato paste is like its name, thick and pasty. Sauce is more runny in texture. I use both on occasion.
Spaghetti is made with thin straight shaped pasta goulash is made with elbow macaroni.
We can get many shapes and varieties of pasta here.

Things seem more complicated there. I guess if we were having elbow macaroni it would still be bolognaise sauce just over pasta for a change.

guess we are more complicated. Each pasta has a name and when you cook it and add sauce you called the dish after the pasta..LOL
