Draw sled base shape on paper and then cut out of. 1-1/2" foam.
Bevel outside edges of sled base. Lay out paper patterns for 2 sled blades and arms & legs of bear and tree on 1/2" foam to be sure they'll all fit on the foam piece.
Cut out all 1/2" shapes.
Draw bear body shape on 1" foam and cut out.
When all the pieces are cut, paint each piece with Avacoat sealant.
Then coat each piece with 2 coats of acrylic paint.
Glitter may be applied for a festive look.
Poke a hole in each end of the bear arms.
Glue the arms and legs to the bear body.
Poke a hole in each end of the sled blades for gold cord.
Glue the 2 sled blades to the sled base.
Add artificial greens and berries to tree shape and small
star to top of tree.
Glue entire tree to sled base.
Glue assembled bear to sled base.
Add gold cords to neck of bear and front of sled.
Add small packages and accessories.
- Glitter Tree
This is a very simple project, especially if a "Tippi" hot cutting wand and a "Base Station" hot wire are the tools being used for the job.
Draw an 8" circle centered on the ends of the foam cube.
Use a straight hot wire to follow around the circle and transform the cube into a cylinder.
This type of cut can also be accomplished with a
~Copi" hot wire.
A sharp serrated knife blade will cut the foam, but
it will leave more of a mess, and need to be smoothed out with fine sand paper.
Cut around the top and bottom of the cylinder, following
the circle, with a round blade to remove the sharp angles of the cube.
Next cut a "V" around the cylinder between 4" and 5" from the bottom and between 8" and 9" from the bottom to form 3 distinct sections; Head, Middle and Bottom.
These cuts look more like natural snow being uneven.
Now, it's time to accessorize and bring the snowman to life.
Paint with white acrylic. While wet, sprinkle with glitter and let dry.
Glue the 8" hat to his head or, secure hat to head with straight pins.
Poke the twigs into the sides for arms.
Add glue if necessary to secure.
Cut fringe slices into the ends of the fabric scarf and
tie around the "neck." Carve a "carrot" out of the small piece of foam, shave it like you are whittling from one end to the other to form a point.
Add little grooves around the outside and paint with
Avacoat, let dry, then cover with orange acrylic paint. Hot Glue the broom to the stick "hand".
Tie jute around broom to make it a traditional broom shape.
Break two small fragments of foam into little 1/4" chunks and paint black.
When dry, add these to the face close to the nose.

Draw shapes on paper templates. Cut out and push-pin to 1" foam.
Trace around patterns with a marker until 4 of each shape have been
drawn on the foam. Cut out all the shapes with a hot wire. Avacoat
each shape.
Paint all of the hearts red.
Paint all of the cookie cutter boys and girls, and the round cookies, brown.
Details like "stitches" or curved edging patterns can be added to the shapes with the straight blade of a "Tlppi" hot cutting tool.
Paint faces on the boys and girls.
Circular indentations on the cookies filled with black acrylic paint make them look like they are chocolate chip.
Poke holes in the arms and on either side of the hearts and string the cutouts together, leaving about 2" between each shape.
Tear fabric into 1" x 4" strips and knot fabric around both the jute and the lights to secure the two together as one long cord. The knotted strips of fabric also hide the light cables so only the little bulbs are left showing.
