I got a wild hair and decided to approach the editor/publisher of our little local weekly paper about maybe doing some freelance writing. I really have a burden for SAHMs and the fact that most of the media and publications out there just plain ignore us. I know it has ot be even worse if you are a SAHW.
Anyway, he is interested. He asked that I send him something, and a few more ideas. I just emailed him my first stab at article writing, a bit of humor about being a Mom.
Keep your fingers crossed and please pray.

I sent the editor an article. Here is what he wrote back to me:
<<Reviewed the sample sent. You write well. It's pretty entertaining and would doubtless have appeal to many of our readers.
My earlier concern remains: do we want a column called the "stay-at-home" mom on a regular basis? Perhaps the answer is that you could branch out a bit and write on parenting/motherhood in general, as opposed to just stay-at-home. That's not to say you couldn't come back to that, but it's a bit narrow.
If I'm going to engage someone as a semi-regular, I always try to consider the long term. >>
Soooo, I don't know what that means. I did email him back and tell him that I can definately broaden my scope some. We'll see if he accepts my article.
Keep praying girls!

Wow, he must've been impressed! Let us know how it all works out. I can see his point about it being Mom's stuff rather than SAHMom's stuff...the more people who buy the newspaper the better, for them.
