On the Duggar family website, Mrs Duggar gives recipes that she uses to feed her 16 children. I know their family is 18 but I am sure the little ones don't eat alot, that is my experience. So if you have to feed your extended family maybe on a Sunday, consider these recipes. www.duggarfamily.com/articles/recipes.php

Br, I can't even contemplate what it must be like to cook for so many people every night! What a capable woman.

I was thinking maybe our extended families don't even add up to 18 or 16.

I remember very clearly a lady alot of kids from Tasmania. Her husband is a butcher. They did alot of meat and three vege type meals. Another Karen, who is in Melb. did a piece for a magazine awhile back, and she was doing spaghetti and things like BBQ chicken I think she used 4? and corn cobs, which I tried and it was a great meal. But like you say, Mrs. Duggar has even more people than that, so it is amazing.
She would cook 3 times what we have, so up to 3kg of meat each time or 6lbs!! At least 1 1/2 to 2kg anyway, that would be the bare minimum.

I remember growing up my mom cooking for 9 each night. I think having to cook for 18 you would need 2 stoves or at least a commercial or restaurant sized one!

There was a family a similar size on SBS in Melbourne, I think they had bigger appliances.
