Good morning! This week I've been taking care of sick kiddos. Kody is back at school today but Delaney is still sick....sore throat and then complications with her asthma. Dylan is now starting with a cough and sore throat. Ugh...it's that time of year again though. I am so thankful I'm at home so I can take care of my kids and pamper them and fuss over them all day and have an all day jammie day if we want. I've been making lots of homemade soup and biscuits this week, mmmm...love homemade soup. We still have lots of tomatoes in the garden so I've been canning those as well and making more chili sauce. Also lots of beets, I canned 10 more jars of those. The only thing left in the garden is turnip which will be awhile yet and strawberry corn....I tried some different things in the garden this year....strawberry corn is red and yup, looks like a strawberry, you dry it and then take off the kernels. It can be popped for popcorn. Can't wait to try it. Our Indian corn turned out beautiful this year, I've made up bunches of them and tied them with raffia. Later today I am going to the pharmacy for the kids inhalers and more medicine and will pop into the grocery store for juice and some loss leaders that are in the flyer. Oh and to pick up a mum for my parents who are coming this weekend. Have a wonderful day on your homesteads.

Hi Heather, and all your homesteaders out there. Good to hear about your homestead Heather. Looks like it is blossoming
Me, well as you know I am working on the computer room redo. Work in progress. As I type dh is in here working on gluing the wainscoting up to the wall. By the weekend he should have it all up and we can paint it, put up chair railing and paint that and then I can do my wall paper border above that. All that will be left to do then will be the wood flooring. Ya think we will be done by holidays. LOL.
We have also been working outside on cleaning the vinyl siding down and washing windows. We didn't do any of that this spring as we were helping dd at her farm house. So it is double dirty.
Always so much to do on a homestead eh.
I have posted about my crafts I am working on and today I was gathering ideas for my holiday homemade gifts. I am trying to make everything homemade ...
Bout it for *Down On The Homestead With the Williamson's*
Next??

Pretty quiet around here today. Dh spent the morning at our pastor's house doing some work there so I had a morning to myself. Picked some tomatoes before the groundhog and rabbit could bite holes in them (anyone want a big roly poly groundhog that's a real pain, lol). I have enough tomatoes now to can some tomorrow. Also got 4 eggs today that werent' broken and none had been eaten, yea, putting a golf ball in the nest box seems to be deterring the egg eating problem I was having.
It's cooled off some here this evening which is nice since it's been so hot lately. We are soooo dry though and desperately need some rain. I've noticed that the leaves are already starting to turn colors and I assume it is because of the lack of rain and the trees are trying to survive by shedding earlier than usual. Also noticed that the hummingbirds have flown south, haven't seen any since early last week and I miss them. I'm seeing lots of wooly worms so I guess cold weather is just around the bend. I like autumn but I really, really don't want winter to come, ick!
Have a good evening!

School holidays here. Atm the kids are in the sandpit in the only shade in the yard except next to the house. It is sunny there during the day too, which is a shame.
We had a power out, but I'm back again and the French dip sandwiches are in the oven. We were going to try cooking it on the BBQ in a casserole that can be used on the stovetop.
Dh went to the regional centre and while there got some herbs. He put holes in the drums, I got the idea from the herb garden picture on this board. The girls planted out the herbs and own the gardens now.
He also found some old cookbooks at the op-shop.
Now he is fixing our second car that hasn't been working, he has holidays too.
This morning he rehung a plant we have had for 21 years, a stag or elk, it is growing so well and he hung it on the chimney. I hasn't had a "home" for nearly 2 years since we moved here last January.
Some more tulips are ready to burst out. It is hot here now, I think we have winter beat. Although like Beth it does some strange things. It was very cold only a few days ago. Our fire is out now, hope it stays out for awhile. DH got some parts for his chainsaw, it is an old one and should be OK now, the shop owner says he could buy the rest of the stock if he likes.
The car is going!
The girls hope to go to craft tomorrow, but it may be too late to join in.
Still have heaps of online forms to fill out for ds for uni next year. We filled out some for unis in two states, so two forms, they one accom. for one, now the rest. Also one for disadvantage educationally because of where we live, then possibly some scholarship ones if we can.
