The Man From Snowy River Festival has a bush poetry section. This is the street parade. There is a reenactment of Jack Riley's last ride. He is the man in the poem possibly, by Banjo Patterson.

Many years ago I bought a big book of Banjo Patterson's poetry. I still love the Man from Snowy River and Clancy of the Overflow best.
For those who'd like to read something else with a real old Australian flavor, get a copy of Peter Carey's "A True History of the Kelly Gang". I loved the book, but be warned it's written with very little punctuation, just as it may have sounded if written by a bush bandit!

Looks like a fun festival br. In American we had a *Man From Snowy River* movie. It was a lovely movie. I wonder if they are related somehow.

Yes, the movie "The Man From Snowy River" is the same Man. I live near the Snowy Mountains. The movie was actually filmed closer to Melbourne, probably to make it easier for the crew. Maybe I can find some movie details somewhere.
Our daughter aged 12, is doing schoolwork on Ned Kelly atm. My Nana had a great book about him but I don't remember the name. Thanks for the book tip, I may be able to borrow it.
