www.aprairiehome.com/homesteading/articles_links/simpleliving.htmlIt is hard to take in, but would be interesting in other's thoughts on e.g. "To live simply means to cultivate the earth, which is the basis of all Godly dominion. To live simply means to own property and be self-governing. " Taken from: From "Far Above Rubies: Wisdom in the Christian Community" by David Mulligan.

We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.

Here's my favorite simple living quote: "The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."

I've been thinking about this, BR. Living simply for me is to put away the noise and commotion and just be still before the Lord. Sometimes, I think, we get caugt up in all the busyness of life that we miss out on the simple things that God gives us to enjoy.....like a quiet moment with Him, a cup of tea, the sunrise or sunset. As a mother, sometimes I get so busy I tend to neglect the simple things, the little things God blesses me with. And it always tells on me too.....just as there are signs of the seasons around us, there are signs for me when I need to get quiet before the Lord. Like hasty speech, irritability, restlessness....oh the list could go on and on. The Lord gently reminds me frequently that it isn't about great things....it's those little things. We all know the Mona Lisa is a great work of art, but what about those squiggly crayon lines our children create? Nothing glamorous about scrubbing toilets, but when we do it out of a God given love for our families, then it too can be a blessing...... ok, I've rambled enough here.....forgive me if I've offended. love to you all from me!

I went to a simple living website, and for Christians it seems so much easier to live a simple life. I am lucky, I am not overly familiar with the term, but I have my Grandparents example to follow. Grandpa just sat outside in his three sided shed outside the back verandah and looked out enjoying the garden. I always loved to do that, you need some sort of privacy from the neighbours. Our new house is a challenge like that. At the moment the girls and I try to sit on a chair outside under the crepe myrtle, we have some nice green grass growing there and something to look at now, thanks to dh and our new rose garden.
Nana hardly ever bought anything. She still had a great time. I think she saved her money for her big trip on the train each week and had a lovely time, just being with her family.
