Krispy Kreme haven't been in Australia long. There are a few stores in another State, NSW, but none in Victoria until Thursday. The opening has been so busy that, since Thursday morning at 6.30am, people have been waiting in the drive-thru line for THREE HOURS and in the store for one and a half hours, just to get their first taste of K Kreme donuts. They've had police helping to monitor the traffic because it's been so bad!
Last night my younger son worked as a "helper" there, not in the kitchen, just kind of hanging around being a customer service person. He works for a couple of promotions agencies and gets sent to this kind of thing just to be nice and look good. Anyhow, last night he had people trying to bribe him to get him their donuts!!
He also saw one guy arrive in a car with another young bloke, next thing this guy is walking around with sunglasses on and his hands out, pretending to be blind so that he could be taken to the front of the line, which ds had to do. He was knew the guy was a fake but couldn't tell him to get lost without getting into trouble with the employer. He got his donuts, and ds later saw he and his friend drive away, with the friend laughing at the whole scam. Unbelievable.
The store is miles away from where we live, which is probably a good thing as I do rather like their donuts! Dh has brought them back with him when he's gone to NSW on business. Anyhow, none of us can believe the excitement that's been generated by the opening of a donut store!

They are best when they are hot out of the oven. We don't have any within 20 miles, maybe a bit more, so that's good. I'd be in trouble if we did.

Unbelieveable Miss V! All over donuts! I'm not a fan of Krispy Kreme, they are just too sweet for me.

Krispy Kreme is the donut king here in the south!
We love them, but don't buy them very often....they can be addicting! We much prefer them over cake donuts. When my MIL comes from KY, she always wants donuts from KK.
I would agree with Michelle, they are best when hot. My fav is the chocolate glaze. My dh likes the plain glazed.

I had some doughnuts, the sugared kind the other day on my trip to my hometown. They are the only doughnuts we buy and usually they are bulk ones from Coles.
