DD nearly 9 came with her friend to take her to her house for a sleepover. This has happened before but this is what happened today.
I heard her ask "are you poor, because xyz says you are?", I didn't hear the answer.
DD12 comes to me and says the girl asked her the same question and says dd's sister says she is. Then later guest says that "even though you are poor you have ..." and dd answers "we've had that since I was a baby.
The guest is one of two children and lives on 5 acres, brick house. What are you supposed to say to dd etc.?

Well, BR, you are an experienced mom of five and your children know the truth. My granny always said, "Rich or poor is just a state of mind." And you know, I think she was so right.

I have read your post now 3 times Linda, and each time all I could think of was how sorry I felt for those children. They have to get that idea from somewhere and it sounds like they are hearing it at home. Very sad that even in this day and age children aren't brought up to see all sides of a coin. Hugs to you and your family. I have to say I know now that we were poor growing up, but we never knew it. You and hubby just keep doing what you are doing. I'm sure you have lovely children from what you have told us. {{{Linda}}} I like your grandma's saying Lynn, perfect!
