I once posted about this, I think on another site. My daughter who is now 12 did some martial arts while on an excursion/field trip with school. Because she did ballet she was quite good at it. I couldn't decide what to do, so didn't decide in time, and she didn't keep going. So if anyone else gets in that spot here is some reading to help out. www.pastornet.net.au/response/articles/134.htm

The pastor at our new church actually uses martial arts as a ministry. He was a martial arts teacher before he was saved. God has used his talent to help further His kingdom. He has a beautiful testimony about it (or so I'm told) I think that if ds is interested, he may take the class offered at church on Tues nights. I was worried about him getting into the "Eastern religion" part of it and possibly getting confused about our beliefs, but since its done from a Christian perspective at our church, I think we will be ok.

That's wonderful Melody that you have someone knowledgable about those things to help out. Our son is showing an interest in it too, unfortunately he is using his kicking technique on his door. I told him it would be better to know some things before he hurts himself!

We went tonight to the Karate class. Ds did very well. He impressed his instructors with his willingness to try hard at everything they asked him to do. We will go again on Thursday. He can't spar yet, but he can see what its like and then decide if he wants to do it. If he does, then the pastor/instructor will order him a ghee.
