Makes 8 servings
1 1 / 2 cups seeded coarsely chopped tomato 2 green onions, chopped 1 / 4 cup taco sauce 1 (4.5-ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained 2 pounds ground round (85 percent lean) 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 / 2 tsp cumin 1 / 2 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp chili powder 8 curly leaf lettuce leaves 8 whole-wheat or white hamburger buns, split and toasted (1 1 / 2 -ounces each) 16 light tortilla chips
Combine tomatoes, green onions, taco sauce and chopped green chilies. Cover and chill 30 minutes. Meanwhile combine ground round, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, garlic powder and chili powder; blend well. Divide into 8 equal portions and shape into patties.
Preheat grill or allow coals to burn down to white ash. Grill patties 4 to 5 minutes per side or until meat thermometer registers 160°F. Place lettuce leaves on bottom halves of buns; top with hamburger patties. Top evenly with tomato mixture. Finely crush 2 chips per burger and place on top of tomato mixture. Top with buns.
