I found this simple recipe the other day..it makes just enough for me and one or two for DH if he's lucky!
Chapati
2 cups white or whole wheat flour 1 - 1 1/4 cups water 1 cup of flour to roll out chapti butter or ghee
Put the flour in a mixing bowl and add enough water to make a dough. Knead this, adding more water as needed until the dough becomes pliable and soft. Let it rest 15 to 30 minutes. Divide the dough into10-12 portions and roll each into a ball, then flatten with your palm. Dust each ball with flour and then use a rolling pin to roll into a 5-6 inch disk. Place on a heated griddle and cook a few seconds on each side until light brown spots appear. do the same for the other side. I have a gas stove, so I then place it directly over an open flame to make it puff up. Then we can eat them! They will be okay to wrap in foil and you can reheat them on the griddle for a few, but I like them best hot of the flame!
