Apple dessert contest winner, 2006 Easy Apple PieThe judges in our 2006 apple dessert contest found this to be the best entry of all. Try it and see what you think. Ingredients 5 apples, or more if needed handful of fresh cranberries (optional) ½ cup sugar ½ tsp. cinnamon 1 egg, beaten ½ cup sugar 6 tbs. butter, melted ¾ cup flour 1 tsp. vanilla ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 1. Fill a nine inch pie plate even with brim with thinly sliced apples. 2. Add cranberries, if desired. 3. Mix ½ cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over apple slices. 4. Combine egg, remaining sugar, flour, butter, vanilla, and nuts. 5. Spread mixture over apple slices. 6. Bake in 350 degree oven for 50 minutes or until lightly browned. That sounds good and no crust? I will have to give it a try when I get a new roll of baking paper.

It must be a type of crumble. I am tempted to try it too. I think I still have some walnuts.

Here is how you make crumble.
Apple Crumble
1 cup Self Raising Flour 3/4 cup dessicated coconut 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons butter
Rub butter into dry ingredients like you would with biscuits. Put onto top of stewed apple and bake.
N.B. This recipe is not metric.
