Chili nuts
2 cups cashews or pecans 1/4 cup unsalted butter 2 tsp chili powder 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp garlic salt Dash of tabasco sauce Preheat oven to 300°F Spread nuts in roasting pan. Toast in preheated oven for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Melt butter in skillet and add chili powder, cayenne, garlic salt and tabasco. Pour over nuts and roast, stirring frequently, for 20 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Cool before storing. Store in airtight containers for up to 6 weeks.
Yield: about 4 cups
