Anyone up for a *use up your craft supplies and finish those crafts you have started challenge.*
As I was cleaning out the closet in the computer room so that we can re-decorate that room I was surprised at the amount of unfinished projects and projects that I bought the supplies to do and never did them.
So I am issuing a challenge...let's finish up all the crafts we have started, and use up all our supplies before we buy more. Who knows, perhaps there are a couple of holiday or birthday gifts just waiting to *happen* in that treasure trove craft cupboard.
You with me?
Let's post here each project we do and if we made that item without having to go to the craft section at our local store.

Car's Project # 1~
Many months ago I bought the chunky wooden letters to spell out Family, that I wanted to paint and distress to hang on the hallway wall, above our family pictures.
And a couple months ago while perusing a country craft magazine, I came across the same chunky letters painted and distressed and set sideways on a mantel spelling out different words. I thought that was such a cute idea, so I bought the letter to spell the word JOY. Course it can be used for Christmas decor or let out all year. Everyone knows we need lots of JOY all year round.
So..today I am painting the ones that spell Family in burgundy and the ones that spell Joy in sage green..When I am finished I will post a picture.

Glad your in Luc...What type of projects have you started. Can't wait to hear.
My goal is to make at least four projects each week for a while. Hope I can keep to that.
I just finished up my ornaments the other day for the swap so that got me motivated.

Here are the finished pictures. They are both distressed but you can't see it well on the photo, might have to distress them a bit more. But I am happy with them. The word Family will go on the wall, above our family portraits, and the word Joy will be a mantel piece left out all year on the back of the fireplace.

Here are the two pics of the finished pillows. One is of all the ones I had enough stuff to make and the other is a close up of one so you can see it better.

Thanks Dee, and all the supplies were marked down too. The small pillows were marked to 10 cents and the larger ones were 25 cents after the holidays last year. The beads were half off and the ribbon was 30 cents per spool. Not bad...huh?

Carolyn, I'm in. some of my projects are 2 years old (if not older) and I really need to get them finished and all the stuff used up.
You did a wonderful job on your projects! I'll get started on mine in the very near future!

Here is my project for today Friday, July 29. It is a purse or can be used as a Bible tote. It is made from a simple placemat, 1 yard of grosgrain ribbon for the handles and then whatever embellishments you would like to put on it. I put two daisy buttons on the front of it and think I will tie a yellow bow from the same grograin for the center front. The whole thing only cost me~ Placemat~ 1.50$ at Dollar General (you can also find these sometimes at Big Lots, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar. I am going to check them all out. I also have a store here called Magic Mart that I want to try. Wal*Mart has cute placemats but they cost 2.93$ or more. Ribbon~.30 cents Buttons~ the buttons were the most expensive item. They were on clearance at Wal*mart for 1.80$ But I liked them and thought that they added a special touch. If I get smaller grograin ribbon for a bow it will be .07cents for 1/2 yard. Total for cute purse... $3.67...woo hoo. And if you so desire you could fill this with something and give them filled as gifts...
